Student Absences (reprinted from Fenton’s Student Handbook, page 28)
When
a student is absent, a parent or guardian must call the Attendance
Office at (630) 860-4948 (or 4949) between 6:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. on
the day the student is absent. Parents who have unique circumstances
calling in should contact the Attendance Office and request special
consideration. Unforeseen emergencies that make phoning impossible will
be considered on an individual basis by the student's dean, who will determine whether or not to excuse the absence.
Notes instead of phone calls will not be accepted for excusing absences
unless parents have made prior arrangements with the Attendance Office.
School
attendance is compulsory under Illinois State Law. The School Code of
Illinois clearly places responsibility for student attendance upon
parents and guardians. For detailed information regarding students
absences please refer to the student handbook which is posted on the
homepage of the Fenton website.
