As previously mentioned in Mr. Ongtengco’s correspondence, Fenton High School’s commitment has always been to resume in-person learning when health and safety conditions enable us to do so. Due to restrictions from the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the Illinois Department of Health (IDPH), we can only resume in-person with a limited number of students in the building. At the same time, we are required to provide families with the option to continue with full-remote learning throughout the pandemic. As part of our phased-in approach for resuming in-person learning, our teachers will continue to use video conferencing platforms such as Google Meets or Zoom so that they can deliver synchronous instruction to students who are in class and at home.
At this time, we request your preference for in-person hybrid when it is safe or remote learning for the remainder of the school year. Regardless of whether you choose in-person or remote, every attempt will be made to maintain their scheduled classes and teachers.
Please complete the following form by December 4, 2020. Students whose families do not complete the form will be placed in remote learning for the remainder of the school year. All families choosing in-person hybrid can request to move their student(s) to all remote. However, if families have chosen, or been placed into, remote they will be in remote for the remainder of the school year as long as the State of Illinois is in Phase 3 or Phase 4.

Jak już wspomniano w poprzedniej korespondencji od pana Ongtengco, Fenton High School zawsze było i jest zobligowane żeby wznowić naukę uczniów w klasach, gdy tylko pozwolą nam na to warunki zdrowia i bezpieczeństwa. Ze względu na ograniczenia ze strony Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) i Illinois Department of Health (IDPH), naukę w klasach możemy wznowić tylko z ograniczoną liczbą uczniów w budynku. Jednocześnie jesteśmy zobowiązani do zapewnienia rodzinom możliwości kontynuowania nauki w systemie e-learning /zdalnej/ podczas trwania pandemii. W ramach naszego stopniowego przejścia do wznowienia uczenia się w klasie, nasi nauczyciele będą nadal korzystać z platform wideokonferencyjnych, takich jak Google Meets lub Zoom, aby zapewnić synchroniczne instrukcje uczniom w klasie i w domu.
W tym momencie pytamy Państwa, czy wolą/ preferują Państwo naukę w klasie hybrydową wtedy kiedy będzie bezpiecznie żeby to wprowadzić czy zdalną e-learning do końca roku szkolnego. Rodziny, które nie wypełnią tej ankiety, ich uczniowie będą umieszczeni w programie nauczania zdalnego /e-learning/ do końca roku szkolnego. Dear Fenton Families
In this season of Thanksgiving, I am sincerely thankful for your continued support and cooperation during these challenging times. I am thankful that the Fenton community continues to support each other through food drives and free student meals, coat and toy drives, and internet and connectivity enhancements.
I am also thankful that our priorities remained constant and clear during this pandemic:
- Safety and Wellness
- Learning
- Communication
The Fenton administration continues to work tirelessly to provide a quality education for our students while also monitoring COVID metrics provided by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) and DuPage County Health Department (DCPH). As Fenton continues to follow their safety guidelines and monitor the public health metrics, we have determined that it is not yet safe to bring large numbers of students into the building. As you all know, there has been a surge of COVID cases, positivity, hospitalizations, patients in ICU, patients on ventilators, and deaths. Currently, DuPage is in Substantial Transmission Level on the DuPage County COVID-19 School Metrics. Currently, restaurants, bars, meetings, indoor recreational activities, and hospitals are under the Restore Illinois Tier 2 mitigation; however, on Friday, Illinois will move to Tier 3 mitigation. With all of these factors and placing safety as our top priority, Fenton will remain in Remote Learning for at least the remainder of the semester as we continue to monitor health department metrics and advisories.
Please note: Although we are in a remote learning schedule and cannot bring large groups of students in the building, we have very small groups of students in the building receiving support. These groups include: Supervised Remote Learning, Connectivity, ESL, Special Education, Engagement, Freshmen on Track, and tutoring. These student support services will continue as long as we can do it safely.
With that said, Fenton still needs to be proactive and plan to bring larger groups of students and implement our hybrid schedule second semester when the surge subsides and we can return safely. This will require more planning and coordination on many levels.
How can you help with planning and coordination? We need each of our families to inform us if they would like to return to Fenton via in-person/hybrid or remote when it is safe to do so next semester. How will we do this?
- You will receive a Preference Document via email in a few days.
- You will choose either in-person/hybrid or remote.
- Families who do not complete the document will remain in remote.
- There will be a two week window to complete the survey.
It is imperative that each family completes the Preference Document. This will help us plan to bring larger groups of students back into building. Fenton needs this information prior to winter break.
Again, I am thankful for your continued support and cooperation during these challenging times.
