Update from Interim Superintendent Bentsen
Dear Fenton School Community,
This week our students and teachers attended special presentations on cyber safety conducted by BeSure Consulting, which is a team of current and retired law enforcement professionals.
We are continuing to focus on student safety and we appreciate our partnership with students, teachers, and families to learn more about these potential dangers. Presenters covered sexting, cyber bullying, sextortion, the dangers of using social media, and how to report a cyber crime – among other topics.
Our teachers had a separate training Monday morning. Then Seniors and Sophomores attended an October 1st presentation, while Juniors and Freshmen attended an October 4th presentation.
Parent Teacher Conferences are on October 15
Parent Teacher Conferences are right around the corner and we’re encouraging all parents and guardians to connect with their student’s teachers. We want school and home to collaborate as one. Conferences are a great way to ensure our students’ goals and progress are aligned moving forward in this young school year.
Please join us on Tuesday, October 15. Virtual or phone appointments are available 12:50 to 2:10 p.m. All meetings from 2:35 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. will be in-person and held in the Field House at Fenton. We sent our families a letter and email outlining how to reserve appointments in Calendly.
For those who visit Fenton, I also encourage you to stop by the Community Room between 6 and 7 p.m. for Fenton’s Financial Aid Night, where you can learn about grants, Scholarships, and how to apply for financial aid.
Fenton Hosts Anti-Bullying Community Presentation
Fenton is hosting a presentation at 6:30 p.m. on October 17 from nationally renowned anti-bullying speaker and drug prevention specialist Fabian Ramirez. Bully prevention is near to Fabian’s heart simply because he was bullied in middle school and knows the psychological impact that bullying can have on students.
This educational program is in partnership with Bensenville School District 2 thanks to a grant from the Bensenville Community Foundation. We invite all Fenton Families, Future Bison, and anyone else who is interested. Raising our children is a community effort.
Let us know if you have any questions.
Sam Bentsen, Ed.D.
Interim Superintendent

GPS Offerings for October
The Glenbard Parent Series (GPS) is a large group of area schools working together to find guest speakers and produce informative literature to help families navigate life with a growing teenager.
Most programs in the Glenbard Parent Series programs are virtual and can be joined from home over the internet, and all presentations are free. We plan to communicate various upcoming presentations as the year progresses, but we invite you to bookmark their website https://gpsparentseries.org/ and sign up for their emails.
Here is their lineup for October:
Incubator Receives First Donation Toward Prize Money
Thank you to the Bensenville Youth Coalition for donating $500 toward Fenton’s new INCubator program. Rick Kambic, Fenton’s Director of Community Relations, represents Fenton in the Coalition and brought the check to Mr. Garcia’s 3rd period Entrepreneurship Class on Thursday, October 3.
Students who are approved to take the full year Entrepreneurship class (also known as INCubator) have the opportunity to create and fully develop their own product or service and incorporate it into a real world business they own. Guided by real-world entrepreneurs and local industry-leading mentors, students experience the full range of business operations, including ideation, research, marketing, accounting, human resources, as well as the legal aspects of running a business.
The course culminates in Pitch Week, where student teams present their innovative ideas to actual investors, with the chance to secure funding to bring their business plans to life. This process not only sparks creativity but also equips students with practical skills and experience to pursue entrepreneurial ventures in the real world.
To become a mentor or to donate money to Pitch Week, contact Michelle Papanicolaou by sending an email to papanicolaou@fenton100.org.
Fenton Volleys for the Cure
In their latest home match, the Fenton Girls Volleyball team raised money to support Susan G. Komen for the Cure Foundation in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The team sold Volley For the Cure shirts, conducted a raffle, and received general donations in support of the cause. The Thursday, October 3 matchup was a fierce battle against Bartlett High school.
International Cooking
