Update from Interim Superintendent Bentsen
Dear Fenton School Community,
We had a wonderful weekend of competition in and around our newly renovated stadium. Several teams competed in or around the stadium for the first time since renovations and stormwater upgrades were completed over the summer.
This renovated stadium provides our students with a state of the art facility to learn in and compete in.
Boys soccer won their match 2-0 on Thursday, September 5 at home to advance in the Addison Trail Joe Novy Classic and face Oak Park River Forest for a chance to take 3rd place overall.
Girls flag football hosted St. Laurence on Saturday, September 7 after the return of the Kurtz Early Bird Cross Country Invitational, which saw 12 teams compete on our campus after a one-year hiatus.
Congratulations to sophomore Matthew Andersen for becoming the fresh/soph individual champion at the Kurtz Invite! He finished 1st out of 185 runners!
Thank you to everyone who filled the stands for our football home opener on Friday to celebrate the reopening of the stadium AND to support the Bison during their 43-8 victory over Streamwood. It was such an exciting game to share with our community.
Football photos by Casey Brock and Sebastian Wrobel of the Highlights Yearbook Club.
And our community was here that night, both in the stands and on the field.
We had some important community leaders with us to share in this celebration. They work hard every day to make our lives better in one way or another.
Thank you to the attending representatives from the Fenton School Board, Village of Bensenville (including Village President Frank DeSimone), City of Wood Dale, Bensenville Park District, Wood Dale Park District, Bensenville School District 2, Wood Dale School District 7, and from the Bensenville Community Public Library.
This renovated stadium is truly a source of community pride.
Moving Forward, we want parents to continue to be engaged with our school and we want to be a resource that helps your family learn and grow together.
We previously mentioned our new affiliation with the Glenbard Parent Series (GPS), a large group of area schools working together to find guest speakers and produce informative literature to help families navigate life with a growing teenager.
GPS has an upcoming presentation titled “Anxiety and Stress Reduction Strategies for Teens and Adults” at 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Wednesday, September 11th via Zoom. This event is FREE and definitely a worthwhile topic to dedicate an hour toward.
You can find a Zoom link at www.gpsparentseries.org/ and you can view all upcoming events at www.gpsparentseries.org/upcoming-events/
We also have active parent groups right here at Fenton. We encourage parents/guardians to sign up for a parent group of your interest and join us in providing students and/or other parents with the resources they need to be successful. Click here to sign up.
Let us know if you have any questions.

Senior Portraits Retake/Make Up on Monday and Tuesday
Fenton's official photo company, Prestige Photography by Lifetouch, is taking senior portraits on campus Monday, September 16 and Tuesday, September 17 from 3 to 7:30 p.m. in the Community Room.
Seniors who missed their appointments over the summer are encouraged to sign up. Seniors who don’t like their photo from summer can schedule a retake appointment.
You should have already received an email or letter in the mail containing a unique appointment code that is specific to each individual student and required for booking an appointment or viewing photos online.
Families can go online at https://prestigeportraits.com/ or call Lifetouch at 800-736-4753 to schedule an appointment.
Lifetouch will email photo proofs directly to Fenton families in about two weeks after the portrait session, at which point families can order online or over the phone. Students also need to select their preferred pose for the yearbook by going online or calling customer service.
Students who want to take a FREE yearbook only photo can wait until October 17 when a yearbook photographer will be available during Bison Time. If after school is a better time, students wanting a yearbook photo can drop in Monday or Tuesday before 7 p.m. and wait for an opening. Taking a photo with Prestige Photography is the only way to be featured in the portraits section of the Highlights Yearbook.
Marketing Students Learn to Market Themselves
Fenton’s Marketing and Management students took a field trip on Thursday, September 5 and participated in a job readiness workshop focused on job interviews, cover letters, and resumes. Students received valuable feedback from interviewers to help them improve upon these skills. This workshop, hosted by KO Business Solutions, will now inspire students to create a similar workshop for all students to attend here at Fenton.
Language Exchange
Students from various classes in the Multilingual Department participated in a Language Exchange on Thursday, September 5.
Multilingual Learners met with Spanish 2 and Spanish 3 students who are working toward learning Spanish. The two sides took turns asking and answering questions in their developing language, with their native speaking partner helping them as needed.
Students in both classes were feeling proud of themselves for being able to use their target language to communicate. Fenton teachers are planning to arrange similar activities in the future, which they predict will lead to some new student friendships.
Celebrating Latino Heritage Month
Experience the ultimate fiesta on September 22! Celebrate Latino Heritage Month at the Pavilion at White Pines from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. with authentic food, live music and games. Don’t miss the piñata contest! Free entry; food and drinks available for purchase.
