Update from Superintendent Ongtengco
Dear Fenton Families,
Our school year is well underway and Homecoming was awesome! We have so much to be proud of and so much to look forward to. Please keep reading to learn more on several important topics.
Parent Teacher Conferences
Please mark your calendars for Parent Teacher Conferences on Tuesday, October 10. You should have already received a letter in the mail with more details on how to sign up. We know everyone has a different schedule, which is why conferences are available from 12:30 to 8 p.m.
Our belief is that school and home collaborate as one. We share a common goal in cultivating the best student success possible. We look forward to working hand-in-hand with you on October 10.
Send an email to Mrs. Trujillo at trujillo@fenton100.org if you need help signing up o si necesitas un hablante de español.
Homecoming
Congratulations to our Homecoming Royalty and all the winners from our Homecoming Bonfire competitions. Thank you to Mrs. Casterton, her team of Class Council Advisors, and Assistant Principal Julia Bray for all the awesome tropical themed activities.
We also had visits from the Alumni Class of 2003, 1993, 1983, and 1963. We value our school’s rich history and all the relationships we maintain that promote our legacy and often lead toward opportunities for current students.
Kermes
Our newest cultural celebration and fundraiser, the Fenton Kermes, is back! Latino Heritage Month is underway and the Kermes is a major focal point of our festivities. Our incredible partners at the Bensenville Park District will host the kermes this year due to the construction in our stadium. Our team will still be cooking, so bring a big appetite!
This exceptional sharing of culture is open to the whole community. Please stop by, enjoy yourself, and support our kids. All proceeds benefit Fenton students.
KABOOM
Speaking of the Bensenville Park District, we partnered with them on another incredible community asset. Last week the community came together and transformed an open field into a new park for local children in and near the Royal Oaks subdivision, which is across Route 83 from Fenton.
This grant funded parks project was dependent on the community doing the heavy lifting as a way to unite neighbors and truly appreciate the shared amenity, which is now called Arbor Park.
Thank you to all the Fenton administrators and school board members who helped with this park project.
JCS Arts Grant DuPage Foundation
Thank you to the DuPage Foundation for awarding Fenton $3,000 out of their JCS Arts, Health, and Education fund. We take great pride in our performing arts!
You should join our student musicians for their first performances of the year:
-
Fall Choir Concert – Sunday, October 22 at 3 p.m.
-
Bandarama – Monday, October 16 at 7 p.m.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to send an email to fentonhelp@fenton100.org

Senior Portraits Makeups Start Friday
Seniors who missed their portrait session in July have another opportunity starting Friday and going until Thursday of next week.
Fenton's new photo company, Prestige Photography by Lifetouch, is assigning days and times to students who missed their original appointments. Camera crews will be at Fenton on September 29th, October 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th.
Lifetouch will send appointment information and photo proofs directly to our Fenton Families. Seniors and their families can go online at https://prestigeportraits.com/ or call Lifetouch at 800-736-4753 to pick photos or reschedule to a more convenient day or time.
Purchase is not required. Students can take a yearbook-only photo free of charge. These appointments are the only way to get a portrait in the Highlights Yearbook.
Out of This State Talent
"Sing Out!" Tenor-Bass Festival is open to all current and emerging tenors and basses in grades 7–12. Students spent the morning of Friday, September 22 rehearsing at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee under the direction of Zack Durlam (Associate Professor, Choral Conducting Director). The visit concluded with performances. FENTON loves attending this annual event with our Wood Dale Junior High counterparts!
The Twitter account: @FHSArt1, highlights Fenton's Art Department and community art events. Each month three artists are celebrated in a post titled, "Masterpieces of the Month." September’s selections include Arianna S. White, Harvi Martinez, and Aiden Douglas. Congratulations to all!
Teaching Internships
Students in Introduction to Education with Mrs. Seredy Williams are in their mini internships at Johnson School and Tioga School in Bensenville, as well as Westview School in Wood Dale.
When visiting these schools 2 hours per day, three days per week (60 total hours per semester), Fenton students gain valuable experience working with children and speaking in front of classes. These valuable experiences help advance Mrs. Williams' curriculum and the lessons she can develop for the Fenton students.
Intro to Education is part of Fenton's growing Career Pathway programming aimed at helping students explore and choose careers to pursue after high school. This course is part of the Education and Training college and career pathway, which offers an endorsement on high school diplomas if all courses are completed.
Thank you Bensenville School District 2 and Wood Dale District 7 for your partnerships.
Curators of the Golden Era
Our World History classes spent the first two weeks of the school year studying golden era civilizations. Students then paired up to create detailed museum exhibits based on a civilization of their choosing. On September 8, students demonstrated their knowledge of ancient history by coming together and creating a museum full of exhibits in the Academic Resource Center.
Latino Heritage Month
Students enjoyed Aguas Frescas during lunch on Monday, September 25 as part of our month-long Latino Heritage Month cultural celebrations. Students scanned a QR code to vote on their favorite flavor. Sandia (watermelon) won the popular vote!
Activities kicked off a performance from Tríos Latinos & Grupo Folklórico Quetzal during our Padres Unidos parent group on Thursday, September 21.
Homecoming 2023
Students enjoyed a Tropical Paradise themed Homecoming, filled with a spirit week, dunk tank, bonfire, football game, and dance.
Alumni Return to Fenton
Fenton graduates from the Class of 2003, 1993, 1983, and 1963 traveled far and wide to return during Homecoming week or earlier. Each group received a tour of Fenton and free admission to a football game.
