Dear Fenton School Community,
 
We are excited to see this incredible Class of 2026 cross the stage on Thursday and venture into a bigger world that offers even greater knowledge and opportunities for growth.

Our staff is exceptionally proud of this group of seniors, and we look forward to welcoming their families to the Field House for Thursday's Commencement Ceremony. Doors open at 6 p.m. and close at 6:55 sharp. We are also streaming the ceremony on our YouTube channel for those who can't make it. Look for a link on the homepage of our website!

These last few weeks have featured several wonderful tributes and celebrations for our seniors. It's clear that our staff and our younger students care deeply for this group of seniors. 
 
 

Staff Appreciation

During Staff Appreciation Week, May 4 to 8, we proudly celebrated the incredible employees who contribute each day to the success of our students. From classrooms to offices, transportation to food service, maintenance to support staff, every role makes a difference in creating a positive learning environment for our students and families.

The week culminated on Friday with a shared meal served by district administrators as a small token of appreciation for the dedication, hard work, and care our staff bring to our schools each and every day.

Community Appreciation

We're also fortunate to have a lot of great partners in the community. The Bensenville Park District graciously invited us to the Grand Re-Opening of Sunrise Park, which was previously an underutilized baseball field they converted into multiple soccer fields and added a nearby playground.

Having opportunities to develop team values and interpersonal relationships at a young age is important, plus healthy lifestyles lead to better a quality of life. The youngsters who competed in the Grand Opening Soccer Tournament last weekend will soon be at Fenton High School, and before you know it they'll be crossing the stage too.

Pre-Order Flowers for Thursday’s Graduation Ceremony

Fenton’s Commencement Ceremony is Thursday, May 21 with doors closing at 7 p.m. Families of students in the Class of 2026 can pre-order flowers or stuffed animals through a Fenton vendor, The Commencement Group. All online orders will be available for pickup on site the day of graduation. To retrieve your order, please stop by their booth located along the way to the Fieldhouse before the ceremony begins.
 
 
 
 
 
 

Fee Waiver

All families can apply for their school fees and fines to be waived in accordance with Board Policy 4:140. Fenton High School charges fees for textbooks, consumable materials, extracurricular activities, and other school student fees. Students must also pay fines for the loss of or damage to school books or other school-owned materials.

Student Pitch Business Ideas and Win Money at Incubator Pitch Night 

Congratulations to the winning companies in this year's INCubator Final Pitch competition held on May 8, as well as all students who participated in this year's business INCubator program. Final Pitch Night closely resembled the hit TV show "Shark Tank" as students pitched their concepts on stage in front of a panel of advisors, or "sharks," who decided which companies earn money.

We are extremely thankful to our INCubator mentors who set aside time in their busy schedules to work side-by-side with our young entrepreneurs and provide guidance on how to start a company.

Fenton's May 4 Spring Choir Concert was another incredible performance and the final show for our seniors in the great Class of 2026. Thank you to these students for their hard work, leadership, and the talent they’ve brought to the choir program over the years. Congratulations, seniors, and best of luck in what comes next!

Seniors Take Center Stage at Spring Band Concert

Fenton's May 6 Spring Band Concert was the final show of the year, and our last time seeing members of the Class of 2026 perform in the auditorium. We also celebrated our country's 250th birthday with a performance of "America the Beautiful" right before seniors were lined up on stage for recognition. Congratulations, seniors!

Giselle Castillo Signs to Wrestle in College

Fenton senior Giselle Castillo recently decided to continue her wrestling career at Elmhurst University, where she plans to major in Religious Studies and take Pre-Law courses before eventually enrolling in law school.
 
"I am more than grateful for God for everything and also to Fenton High School for having an exemplary wrestling program that taught me that persevering through the losses is where the most growth is made, which the amazing Coach Hastings always made clear to me," Giselle said in a written statement. "I quickly learned to apply that notion to many different aspects of my life, and learning to deal with the wins and losses appropriately."
 
Giselle compiled an overall record of 67 wins and 18 loses in her career at Fenton, despite being injured for most of her junior year. She was a two-time Upstate Eight Conference Champion, and earlier this year Giselle won the 2026 State Championship for her weight class at the Illinois Wrestling Coaches and Officials Association (IWCOA) giirls tournament.

in 2024 Giselle qualified to the Fargo National Tournament after having taken 3rd place at the IWCOA girls state tournament.
 
Equally impressive, she was a co-captain of the Fenton wrestling program two of her four years.

"My teammates are incredibly important to me to me because Fenton’s wrestling team wouldn’t be Fenton’s wrestling team without them, and each one of their unique traits and qualities made our team all the more enjoyable," Giselle said.
 
Giselle chose Elmhurst University in part because of the opportunity to continue wrestling, but also because it's close to home and the smaller class sizes allow students to better connect with their professors.

"I am incredibly grateful to God for everything I've experienced along this journey, and to Elmhurst University for this opportunity to continue my education in religious studies while preparing for law school and continuing my wrestling career," Giselle said. "I am most excited to continue navigating my relationship with God as I move into a completely new environment with my studies and wrestling. Majoring in religious studies is incredibly exciting, as I look forward to getting a deeper grasp on a multitude of different religions while also deepening my faith in the process."

Celebrating Senior Athletes

The final weeks of the school year have included many special moments celebrating the Class of 2026. We are proud to recognize seniors from badminton, softball, girls soccer, boys volleyball, and more during recent athletic senior night celebrations.

As we fast approach the start of the new school year, it is important to make sure that your child is up to date with any required school, sports, and camp physicals and immunizations. These check-ups are essential to maintain your child’s health and meet school and state guidelines—helping to prevent any missed days from school, sports or camp.
 
In Illinois, students are required to have a school physical along with updated immunizations at specific grade levels and for certain activities. Here’s when your child may need them:
  • 9th Grade: A physical exam is required to begin high school, along with any required immunizations
  • 12th Grade: Meningococcal Conjugate Vaccine – All 12th graders must show proof of receiving the vaccine
  • New to Illinois Schools or Change in School District: Any student enrolling in an Illinois school for the first time or moving to another school district must have a physical exam, along with required immunizations, regardless of grade.
  • Sports Participation (Grades 6–12): A sports physical is required annually prior to tryouts for students who plan to participatein school athletic programs.
  • Camp Participation: Many camps also require a recent physical to ensure children are healthy and cleared for activities.
