Update from Interim Superintendent Bentsen
Dear Fenton School Community,
Next week we will explore a new all-school event known as Future Ready Fenton Day on Wednesday, February 5th. It’s designed to support our students and prepare them for success.
This new initiative provides grade-specific activities focused on testing, career exploration, and college readiness. Attendance is mandatory except for seniors.
This special day will also accommodate state-mandated ACCESS testing for our nearly 400 students who are required by the state to take this annual test. Additionally, all juniors who are not required to take the ACCESS test are required to take the Pre-ACT Test. This testing opportunity will prepare our students for the upcoming state-wide testing date in April. We’ve designed the day to ensure an optimal testing environment for these students while offering meaningful opportunities for all other students.
Please watch for more information about your student’s specific activities. Meanwhile, here’s a general overview:
-
Freshmen who are not testing will visit and tour local colleges.
-
Sophomores who are not testing will go on Career Exploration Field Trips to area businesses aligned with their interests, as indicated in School Links.
-
Juniors will be taking one test or another.
-
Seniors who are not testing can focus on graduation requirements, such as community service and the Constitution Test.
If your student is going on a field trip, make sure you get your permission slip turned in on time.
This is an exciting opportunity to put our students in the best position to succeed. Thinking about life after high school and taking the appropriate steps in the meantime are important objectives for every student.
Thank you to all the staff members who are making this possible.
Let us know if you have any questions. Thank you for your partnership.
Sam Bentsen, Ed.D.
Interim Superintendent
Exploring Internships and Career Fields
Junior Lucy Johnson completed an internship last semester with the Bensenville Media team at Bensenville Village Hall and one of her duties was to host the Spotlight on Fenton TV show. One segment explored internships that other students were participating in. As we approach Future Ready Fenton Day on Wednesday, February 5th, families are invited to watch Lucy’s segment. Click here or on the YouTube video above.
Congratulations to Jack Tinajero, Kendall Mitchell, and Cristobal Veronica from Ms. Rieger’s Photo 1 and AP Photo classes for being voted Best Shots of the week! These photos were selected by the entire school via a vote circulated in the Daily Announcements. Their selections were the first Best Shots of 2025.

GPS Offerings for February
The Glenbard Parent Series (GPS) is a large group of area schools working together to find guest speakers and produce informative literature to help families navigate life with a growing teenager.
Most programs in the Glenbard Parent Series programs are virtual and can be joined from home over the internet, and all presentations are free. We plan to communicate various upcoming presentations as the year progresses, but we invite you to bookmark their website https://gpsparentseries.org/ and sign up for their emails.
Here is their lineup for February:

Attention Seniors!
Our yearbook editors will soon start designing our seniors advertisements.
Senior ads are a great way to cement your favorite memories and accomplishments in a book that's archived forever. Simply choose your desired advertisement size, write your custom message, and upload your picture(s).
The “Guess Who” senior baby pictures are another fun way to contribute to this school-wide celebration and they only cost $10. Start looking for your best picture! Once you find one, send an electronic version to Mr. Kambic (kambic@fenton100.org) AND Ms. Dantona (dantona@fenton100.org). Drop off your $10 cash or check (made to Fenton High School) with Ms. Dantona in the ARC -- place your payment in an envelope with your name and student ID number. If your preferred photo is only in print form, drop it off with Ms. Dantona and the Highlights Yearbook Club will scan it.
