Update from Superintendent Ongtengco

Dear Fenton Families,

I can’t thank you enough for all your patience and hard work during the unexpected E-Learning Days we had these last few weeks. The safety and well being of our students is Fenton’s top priority.

E-Learning is the short term use of Internet-based classes. It was approved for Fenton in 2019 as a tool for continuing the learning process when coming into the building is not possible due to an emergency.

We are definitely glad to have Bison Nation back in school!

You know who else we had in the house last week? Our Future Freshmen! The Fenton Class of 2028 was walking our halls, can you believe it?

The Next Generation was excited to see what Fenton is all about and we were excited to showcase a bright future for them.

Thank you to our incredible Link Crew students for guiding our Future Freshmen and for moderating the awesome panel discussion in Room 302/304. It’s truly important for our youngest Bison to have a good example to look up to.

Another huge Shout Out to our athletic coaches, club sponsors, and all our current students who set up booths at the Activities Fair for our Future Freshmen to explore. It’s proven that students who are involved in an extracurricular program and have more time with trusted adults end with a stronger connection to school, have extra motivation in class, and earn one full letter grade higher.

8th Grade Families learn about Fenton's March 19 Referendum

This public event was also another opportunity to explain our proposed $65 million facilities referendum, which will be on the ballot March 19. Our goal is to comprehensively repair and remodel several areas of our building.

8th Grade Families learn about Fenton's March 19 Referendum

The proposed building referendum, if approved, would replace vital infrastructure such as HVAC, roofing, interior ceilings, major circuit breakers, and water mains. It would also address student health and wellness by gutting and replacing all restrooms and locker rooms, as well as addressing student safety by installing a sprinkler system and replacing our fire alarm.

In terms of academics, the referendum would invest money in renovating existing classrooms in our science hallway and our career and technical education hallways, specifically our culinary and construction trades classrooms.

You can find more details about the proposed referendum at www.fenton100.org/referendum. If you have any questions about the referendum, don't hesitate to send an email to fentonhelp@fenton100.org

Students meet industry professionals during January 18 2024 Career Fair.

Exploring Potential Career Paths

Thank you to the 55 local businesses and organizations that joined our Career Fair on January 18, giving our students a chance to meet industry professionals and ask their own questions. Our Career Pathways programing intends for all students to have a plan(s) for life after high school. What better way to consider your career options than to speak with real people who do the jobs! Bringing all of our partners to the cafeteria at once provides every single student an opportunity to explore areas of interest and then ask their counselors about related courses.

Three Times to Musical Power

Fenton extends a Huge Bison Shout Out to the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade students from Blackhawk Middle School and Wood Dale Junior High for their impressive performances during the Tri-District Choral Festival on Friday, January 19th.

The younger students traveled to Fenton and spent time learning from the high school students, before joining them on stage and singing as one family.

This annual event is a celebration of the schools’ joint love of music, and a way to inspire each other to continue working hard.

Eighth graders interested in continuing with music should contact their new Fenton counselor.
