Dear Fenton School Community,

I know it’s difficult to believe, but we’re almost halfway through this school year! That means Final Exams are right around the corner. Now is the time to make sure you’re all caught up on your assignments and then focus on preparing for this final demonstration of what you’ve learned, whether it’s an exam or culminating project.

Below is a schedule for Fenton’s Semester 1 Final Exams. Each teacher has their own expectations for their class. Students should make sure they fully understand their teachers’ instructions.

INCubator Makes a Big Pitch

Thank you to the Bensenville Community Foundation for hearing our grant request Thursday evening for seed money to partially fund our INCubator Pitch Week in May. We look forward to your decision.
Huge Bison Shout Out to Fenton students Grady and Samantha for joining Mr. Garcia in making this important presentation to our local leaders.

The innovative INCubator class offers high school sophomores through seniors a hands-on, real-world entrepreneurship experience that allows them to conceptualize and fully develop their own products or services with guidance from our amazing teachers and real-world business professionals.
The course culminates in Pitch Week, where student teams present their innovative ideas to a panel of "investors," with the chance to secure funding to bring their business plans to life.

Please give us a call if you're interested in becoming a business mentor or providing a tax deductible donation to Pitch Week.

Shakespeare SLAM is State Bound

Congratulations to the drama students who are heading to the Final Bout for Scene Work in the Chicago Shakespeare Theatre SLAM! The Finals are Monday, December 9 at Navy Pier.

Students participated in a workshop with representatives from the Chicago Shakespeare Theater earlier this fall to play with language and topics of famous Shakespeare works. Then back at school with Dr. Mike Mitchell, the team prepared two scenes to perform in unique ways at the Regional Bout.

Fenton's Sharespeare SLAM group advances to the state finals

We hosted a State Bound sendoff Thursday morning to celebrate the group advancing to the finals.

This amazing group of students will be performing a scene from the play Macbeth as they compete for the “Best Scene” at Navy Pier. Congratulations and good luck!

E-Learning Reminder

Weather conditions continue to change and the unpredictability of winter is moving in. I want to remind our students and families about E-Learning, which is the short term use of Internet-based classes. E-Learning was approved for Fenton in 2019 as a tool for continuing the learning process when coming into the building is not possible due to an emergency. If we are unable to open Fenton for one reason or another, the following will be in effect:

  1. Students will follow the regular bell schedule for the day while learning from home.
    Fenton 2021-2022 E-Learning Bell Schedule

  2. Students are expected to begin virtual instruction at the time of the bell for each period. Students should log-in to the Google Classroom for the appropriate class period and join their teacher and classmates in virtual instruction by using the Google Meet link located in the upper left hand corner of the page. Students are expected to participate in all virtual learning activities and complete any work as assigned. Teachers will be available to help and assist students virtually throughout the entire class period.

  3. Attendance will be taken for each class.

  4. Bison Time: Students are expected to check in to Bison Time if an E-Learning day occurs Tuesday - Friday. Teachers will take attendance for Bison Time. Bison Time will be an opportunity to make school-wide announcements to the students. If no announcements are necessary, students will be dismissed from Bison Time after check-in.

Let us know if you have any questions.

Fenton Choir Student Selected to the All-State Honors Choir

Congratulations to Jan David Olmos for being selected to the Illinois Music Education Association (ILMEA) All State Honors Choir! That's right, he was not only selected to the All-State Choir, but his performance elevated him to the best of the best HONORS ensemble.
Choir Director Seredy Williams made the surprise announcement during choir class on Thursday.
Each fall about 10,000 students across Illinois audition for seats in one of nine geographic districts. Those who are selected for district, their fall auditions are then evaluated for the All-State Ensembles.
Students in the performing ensembles represent the best student musicians in Illinois and they will come together to perform as one January 29 - February 1 in Peoria.
Congratulations Jan David Olmos! Fenton is proud of you!

Students share their experiences at the 2024 Electives Fair

Electives Fair Highlights Unique Courses to Choose From

Underclass students are working with counselors and Bison Time teachers to look ahead at what classes they want to take next year. Fenton hosted an electives fair on Thursday to help spark curiosity and allow students to ask questions of others who are already taking those courses.

Students and families can click here to review the 2025-2026 Course and Program Catalog. If you have any questions about your child's course selection for the coming year, please contact their school counselor.

Early Graduates Present English 4 Research Projects

Students who will graduate a semester early showcased their English 4 cumulative projects during an exhibition in the Community Room Thursday afternoon.

Students delved into a driving personal question and presented their research and newfound knowledge on the topics.

The project involved research, writing an essay, creating a presentation, presenting in front of their class, and then being available in the Thursday school showcase.

Teachers encouraged students to have their project lead to positive contribution to their community, such as encouraging other students to join a cause, take better care of themselves, or raise awareness about a lesser known topic.
