Update from Superintendent Ongtengco

Dear Fenton Families,

We made it! First Semester is in the books. Many of our hard working students pushed themselves to finish this semester strong. I’m proud of the efforts, but I also want to encourage everyone to use this time to recharge your batteries and prepare for the winter season.

Use this time to enjoy your friends and loved ones. Social Emotional Health is critical. Be happy, be positive, and go out of your way to show others that you love them. Friends and family are an important support structure.

Fenton administrators wish you Happy Holidays

When we return to school on January 9 students will also be returning to our front gym, and that is definitely something to look forward to over break.

Below is an incredible photo of our contractors putting some of the finishing touches on the new hardwood floor.

I can promise you that our students will be in awe when their gym class, club, or athletic team steps on the court for the first time. Our new logo has more of an edge to it, a thrill, and rush of Bison Pride.

One final thought: I again want to remind our families about E-Learning just in case weather or anything else interrupts our start to the second semester. E-Learning is the short term use of Internet-based classes. It was approved for Fenton in 2019 as a tool for continuing the learning process when coming into the building is not possible due to an emergency. If we are unable to open Fenton for one reason or another, the following will be in effect:

  1. Students will follow the regular bell schedule for the day while learning from home.
    Fenton 2021-2022 E-Learning Bell Schedule

  2. Students are expected to begin virtual instruction at the time of the bell for each period. Students should log-in to the Google Classroom for the appropriate class period and join their teacher and classmates in virtual instruction by using the Google Meet link located in the upper left hand corner of the page. Students are expected to participate in all virtual learning activities and complete any work as assigned. Teachers will be available to help and assist students virtually throughout the entire class period.

  3. Attendance will be taken for each class.

  4. Bison Time: Students are expected to check in to Bison Time if an E-Learning day occurs Tuesday - Friday. Teachers will take attendance for Bison Time. Bison Time will be an opportunity to make school-wide announcements to the students. If no announcements are necessary, students will be dismissed from Bison Time after check-in.

Board of Education Celebrates Josslyn Wade

Fenton’s Board of Education during its November 15 meeting recognized and congratulated Sophomore Josslyn Wade for finishing 16th out of 243 runners in the Class 2A IHSA Cross Country State Finals.

The top 25 runners are considered “All-State Runners.” Josslyn finished the 3-mile race with a personal best time of 17:48.13. Josslyn is Fenton’s first female cross country runner in known school history to earn the “All-State Runner” designation.

“I want to thank all my coaches, all my teammates, my family members, and everyone else who believed in me and stood by me as I ran this cross country season. It was an amazing season,” Josslyn told the Fenton School Board.

Leading up to the State Finals, Josslyn advanced with a 19.09 time at the Woodstock Cross Country Sectional and a 18:52.2 time (2nd overall) at the Kaneland Regional.

Sharing Their Book of Holiday Tunes

Students from the Fenton Band program shared the holiday spirit last Friday, December 15th with members of our community by performing at the Bensenville Community Public Library Holiday Open House. Fenton values its partnership with local taxing bodies such as the libraries, park districts, and municipalities.
