Update from Superintendent Ongtengco
Dear Fenton Families,
Winter Break is almost here! We have two more days of regular school before Final Exams on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday. Click here to see the Final Exams schedule and other details. Students should keep studying and checking in with their teachers. Show us your best effort and never give up!
Holiday Concert
On Friday we were all treated to another incredible Holiday Band and Choir Concert preview during our Winter Assembly. Huge Bison Shout Out to our student musicians, as well as Choir Director Seredy Williams and Band Director Garett George.
The full concert is at 2 p.m. on Sunday, December 17. There’s still some time if you’re a fan of holiday music. Our students in the performing arts always love a big audience. This event is free of charge and open to the public.
Future Bison Visit
Friday’s assemblies included one for FUTURE Bison. We welcomed 5th, 6th, 7th, and 8th graders from Bensenville School District 2 and Wood Dale School District 7 to enjoy a preview of Sunday’s holiday concert.
Building a strong bridge between Fenton and our Feder Schools is an important goal in our Strategic Plan. We want that transition to be as smooth as possible and we were thrilled to see so many of our future students excited about what they were seeing here at Fenton.
If you have a current Fenton student and an 8th grader at Blackhawk Middle School or Wood Dale Junior High, mark your calendars for 6 p.m. on Thursday, January 18. That’s when we have our Class of 2028 Welcome Night. It’s another chance for Future Bison and their parents to learn everything they need to know about joining Fenton next year.
Course Selection
Current Fenton students also should be looking ahead to next year. Course selection for the 2024-2025 school year ends on Tuesday, December 19.
We had an electives fair on Tuesday, December 12 to assist freshmen, sophomores, and juniors in learning more about some of the classes they could choose. We want our students to be excited and buy-in on their education. The fair included examples of what students can expect to learn about, and students currently in those classes were available to answer questions.
Students and families can click here to review the 2024-2025 Course and Program Catalog as well as grade-specific presentations. If you have any questions about your child's course selection for the coming year, please contact their school counselor.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to send an email to fentonhelp@fenton100.org

Fenton Statisticians Collect Data Lane by Lane
Students in AP Statistics with Ms. Gibel Cushing enjoyed a competitive Wednesday morning collecting data at Wood Dale Bowl. Students formed numerous small groups and tracked scores of each game, including:
-
gender of the bowler
-
use of left or right hand
-
height of the bowler
-
age
-
grade level
Students will use this data for their inference unit, addressing questions such as are there significant differences between gender or left/right handed bowlers? The interactive component of the activity made applying mathematical formulas and analysis strategies more fun and relatable to real life.
The Psychology of Positive Reinforcement
Students in AP Psychology with Ms. Ranjana Rajendran welcomed a dog trainer with A Sound Beginning Program to learn more about how operant conditioning is used to train animals in humane ways.
A Sound Beginning is a not-for-profit organization that uses only gentle methods based on proven science of how dogs learn best. Research has shown that dogs are more likely to learn and repeat behaviors that result in consequences they desire and enjoy. Their methods get results without ever using force or fear.
Piano Recitals Share Holiday Joy
Congratulations to the students in Piano 1 & 2 for their wonderful piano recitals today in the Choir Room. For many of them, it was their first time performing in front of a live audience. All of the songs were holiday themed and garnered many smiles. A Huge Bison Shout Out to Mrs. Seredy Williams for all her mentorship.
A Festive End to First Semester
Fenton students celebrated the end of the first semester by participating in a Winter Spirit Week, which included themes such as PJs, flannels, hats and gloves, candy cane colors, and ugly holiday sweaters.
Parents and Community Invited to Share Their Careers
Fenton High School invites you and your colleagues to participate in the 2024 Career Exploration Fair for students! Your involvement can inspire our students' future career aspirations.
