Update from Interim Superintendent Bentsen

Dear Fenton School Community,

In a few weeks our Fenton Class of 2024 will embark on their next set of adventures. They’ve spent the past two years planning for this moment and making decisions on what they want to do after graduation.

On Wednesday we celebrated those decisions, whether it be college, trade school, military, or workforce. Seniors were encouraged to wear apparel that reflected their decision, and then promote their decision on a small postcard that was taped to the wall of the Student Commons during lunch periods.

Students celebrate their future plans by posing in their college gear during the Decision Day 2024 barbaque.

Thank you to Mr. Cano, Mr. Cuellar, Mrs. Georgakis, Ms. Leclercq, and Dr. Koranda for putting together a BBQ for seniors on Wednesday.

The recognition program celebrates "outstanding students and school citizens." We celebrated Lex and Amber for their remarkable academic achievements and extra curricular activities.
We also want to highlight the many staff members who support and guide our students along the way.

Monday, May 6 is the start of Staff Appreciation Week and we give thanks to all our teachers, counselors, coaches, club sponsors, teacher assistants, office support staff, bus drivers, maintenance staff, grounds staff, and even our wonderful cafeteria staff.

English 4 Students Present Research Projects

Last week students in English 4 displayed their cumulative projects during an exhibition all-day Thursday in Fenton's small gym.

Students delved into a driving personal question and presented their research and newfound knowledge on the topics.

The project involved research, writing an essay, creating a presentation, presenting in front of their class, and then being available in the Thursday school showcase.

Teachers encouraged students to have their project lead to positive contribution to their community, such as encouraging other students to join a cause, take better care of themselves, or raise awareness about a lesser known topic.

Fenton Organizes 2nd Annual Multilingual Summit

Fenton's English Language Learners connected with students from York, Addison Trail, and Willowbrook high schools during the 2nd Annual Multilingual Summit on Tuesday, April 23 at the Deer Grove Leisure Center in Bensenville.

The summit connects students with others who have the same experiences and goals, including students their own age and graduates who have already walked the path and have advice to share. Breakout sessions covered college planning, financial aid, employment advice, and relationship building, among other topics.

A huge thank you to the Bensenville Park District for hosting this important event.
