Update from Superintendent Ongtengco
Dear Fenton Families,
Thank you to all of our students who carefully followed this week’s detailed testing schedule and completed the SAT, PSAT, Illinois Science Assessment, Seal of Biliteracy exam, or completed community service volunteer hours on Wednesday and Thursday. Testing schedules are always hectic, so I appreciate all of your diligence and your strong efforts. These are important exams that can create many exciting opportunities for our students to continue their education beyond Fenton. These tests also provide a snapshot into our school’s academic progress.
I want to give a HUGE Bison Shout Out to Assistant Principal Julia Bray and her excellent team for planning every detail and making it look so easy. And thank you to all of our teachers and support staff who proctored these exams. You were on the front lines keeping all our students on track and worry free.
Looking ahead, I hope everyone can find some time to enjoy another one of our incredible theater productions, “Little Shop of Horrors.” This is a classic Broadway production about a nerdy florist who seeks romance with the help of a giant man-eating plant that has a constant need to be fed.
Shows are open to the public and scheduled for…
- Thursday, April 20 at 7 p.m.
- Friday, April 21 at 7 p.m.
- Saturday, April 22 at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m.
Tickets cost $5 and all money is exchanged at the door the night of each show. You can buy tickets at the door or reserve online by clicking here and paying when you arrive.
This show will include several students who were part of our State Champion Contest Drama crew, which personally has me even more excited to see the show.
Finally, Congratulations to all of the students who were initiated into Fenton’s National Honor Society during Tuesday’s ceremony. For all the seniors we honored in the second half of the ceremony, thank you for four years of hard work and dedicated service to our school and community. Fenton is a crucial part of Bensenville and Wood Dale, and our NHS students are important ambassadors to our residents, the business community, and future Bison who are on their way here.
If you have any questions or comments, please feel free to send an email to fentonhelp@fenton100.org
Let's Go Bison!

FCCLA Students Compete at State
Good luck to three incredible Bison who are competing in the FCCLA state finals this weekend (April 14 and 15) in Springfield.
Senior Esther Zachariah (individually) and juniors Sofia Diaz and Izabel Krajecki (team taught lesson) are competing in the "Children's Literature" event.
Family Careers & Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) is a national organization where students have the opportunity to explore career opportunities and build real world skills by developing projects, engaging and participating in events, and competing regionally and nationally for scholarships and awards. The work of FCCLA helps students and teachers focus on a variety of youth concerns and career pathways such as education, hospitality, human services, and design.
Competitors create a lesson plan and then present their book and activity as though they were in front of elementary students. All performers receive a medal if their score falls within a certain point total.
Fenton congratulates Esther, Sofia, and Izabel!

National Honor Society Inducts New Members,
Celebrates Graduating Seniors
Fenton’s chapter of the National Honor Society on Tuesday, April 11 hosted its annual induction ceremony. Inductees included students from the class of 2023, 2024, and 2025. The ceremony was coordinated by Dr. George Mussman and Ms. Sara Pahl (Fenton’s NHS advisors) as well as the NHS student executive board.
Mrs. Rachel Georgakis, a Fenton Counselor, gave the keynote speech and talked about challenges she experienced in high school and how everyone's journey is unique. She encouraged students to face difficult obstacles head-on and to set lofty goals for themselves. Outgoing seniors then took to the stage one-by-one and gave thanks to parents, siblings, teachers, and coaches who are important role models.
To view the first 5 minutes of the ceremony, watch the Facebook video below or click here to view on Facebook.
Congratulations to the new NHS Executive Board!
Drop it and Drive
April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month, and School Resource Officer Patrick Fajardo is encouraging all students, staff, Fenton Families, and visitors to keep their eyes on the road while driving.
Distracted driving is one of the leading causes of motor vehicle crashes on our roads today. Using a phone in any form other than handsfree mode is not only dangerous, but in Illinois it’s illegal. Drop it and drive.
