This is to inform the public that a State licensed environmental contractor, Celtic Environmental, will abate approximately 3,200 Square Feet of asbestos mastic/vapor barrier from the floors in the following areas:
  • Room 1203 – approximately 1200 square feet
  • North Stairwell & North portion of hallway 2nd floor – approximately 2000 square feet
Abatement work is set to occur during Spring Break, beginning March 28, 2025 and ending on April 4, 2025. This work is associated with our STEM Wing construction project.

Areas will be isolated from the remaining parts of the school until final air quality standards are achieved. The Illinois Department of Public Health, from Federal Regulations, has adopted these standards. During the removal process, air-scrubbing machines will be running 24 hours, and an independent, State licensed, environmental consultant will be in the work area managing the process and taking daily air quality samples.

At the completion of the work an Asbestos Project Managers’ report will be prepared and submitted to the School District and Illinois Department of Public Health. This is a permanent record of the work activity and all sampling data.

The School’s copy will be in the School’s administrative office and is available to the public for reviewing. An appointment should be made to review this document. It cannot be removed from the Administration Offices. Upon request a copy can be purchased from the School District.

All the removal, management and documentation work will be performed in accordance with Illinois Department of Public Health’s Rules and Regulations.

The federal government requires asbestos abatement public notices prior to the beginning of the work, which is scheduled to start March 28. Please click on the link below to review Fenton’s public notice:
