Five rooms scheduled for improvements over the summer have asbestos in the floors that will need to be removed in the process.
The rooms subject to abatement include Room 402, Room 820, Room 812, Room 821, and Room 920.
A certified asbestos abatement company, Celtic Environmental, is under contract to perform the work. Here are some important points regarding the process:

These areas will be closed to all students and staff until the projects are complete.

We will follow all guidelines from the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH).

Two layers of thick temporary barrier bubbles for the walls and ceilings will be installed to seal and isolate the work area from the nearby rooms and hallways, according to guidelines from the EPA and IDPH.

Industrial strength HEPA air filters will replace all air inside the area every 15 minutes.

There will be a separate environmental consultant on site to manage and take air quality sampling on a daily basis. This third party monitoring is a requirement of the EPA and IDPH.
