Fenton Earns 'Commendable' on Illinois School Report Card
I am excited to announce that the Illinois State Board of Education has just released this year’s School Report Card, available now at www.illinoisreportcard.com. The report card is a great way to see how our school is growing, thriving, and making strides toward academic success.
One key feature of the report card is our summative designation—a measure of how well we’re meeting the needs of all students. Schools can receive one of four designations: exemplary, commendable, underperforming, or lowest-performing. I’m proud to share that Fenton has once again earned a COMMENDABLE designation, a testament to the dedication and hard work of our students, teachers, and families.
In addition to this designation, the report card highlights our impressive progress on key educational goals, including:
- Graduation Rate: Fenton’s graduation rate of 88.9% surpasses the state average.
- 9th Grade on Track to Graduate: We saw a significant rise this year to 92.4%, well above last year’s 87.1% and the state average of 88.2%.
- Illinois Science Assessment: Fenton students continue to perform above the state average, reflecting our strong commitment to academic excellence.
While we celebrate these gains, we remain committed to ongoing improvement. This year’s progress shows the impact of our Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and the district’s Strategic Plan as we steadily recover toward our pre-pandemic levels. We have also placed a special emphasis on improving our school-wide attendance rate this year. We are already seeing marked improvement in our attendance this year and are eager to see those increases reflected on next year’s report card.
Our efforts are strengthened by programs that connect us as a community—such as Padres Unidos, Przyjaciele Fenton, Bilingual Parent Outreach Program, Parent Boosters, and PTO—and our ever-growing extracurricular offerings. Together, we’re building a vibrant school environment where students are empowered to reach their full potential.
Thank you for being an essential part of Fenton’s journey. With your partnership, we’re confident that every Fenton student will thrive and succeed.
Go Bison!
