Patrick Curran Memorial Scholarship

Patrick Curran graduated from Fenton High School in 1961 after serving as Student Body Vice President and participating in a wide array of sports and activities. He later served in the United States Marine Corp as a fighter pilot in the Vietnam War until one day his plane went missing.

 

He was deployed to Vietnam in June 1969. On September 29, 1969 he was assigned to fly a surveillance mission, but his tower lost radio contact at 8:50 p.m. Patrick Curran was never seen or heard from again. It wasn’t until June 1996 when his crash site was finally identified. The area was excavated two months later but Patrick’s remains were not returned to the United States until June 2002.

 

Patrick Curran is now resting in Arlington National Cemetery.

 

 

In 2023 Patrick’s brother, Bill Curran, created this scholarship for young and emerging leaders to continue the legacy Patrick began. Bill passed away in November 2024 but this scholarship he created lives on.
