SCHOOL NEWS
Curriculum Night - Thursday, September 11 at 6:55 pm
Fenton parents are invited to take a glimpse of a day-in-the-life of their high school students at Curriculum Night on Thursday, September 11, beginning at 6:55 pm. Curriculum Night is designed to give parents the opportunity to meet each of their child's teachers. The teachers will discuss the outline and goals of the course, along with their expectations of the students. Parents and guardians will follow an abbreviated version of their son's/daughter's schedule. During "study hall" periods, parents will have a chance to talk with counselors and administrators. Fenton families should look for more information on Curriculum Night to arrive in the September Bison Bulletin.
Correction to the Handbook:
Please note, there is an error on page 22 of the 2008-2009 Handbook in the paragraph regarding Cellular Phones/Personal Entertainment Devices.
The sentence explaining the 2nd Offense for unauthorized cell phone usage should read:
2nd Offense: Student picks up after 2 detentions are served (end of next school day at the earliest):
major step - 2 detentions. Please call your student's dean with any questions.
Latex Allergy Statement:
Fenton has become aware of staff and student members who have a latex allergy. We will need to build an awareness of this problem and develop protocols for their safety. Airborne latex particles are a significant source of sensitization, and as a precaution, latex balloons will no longer be allowed in the building. Mylar balloons, however, do not present a risk, and can be brought to school. This decision is made to reduce exposure to latex, as the primary latex allergy treatment is avoidance. Thank you for your cooperation.
Fenton Intervention Program:
FIT is a program set up to offer additional support to students during their freshman year.

Community Service
All Fenton students are required to complete community service in order to be eligible to graduate. Visit the new Community Service page for information on community service, to see upcoming community service opportunities, and to print a time log to keep track of your hours.
