Basic Graduation Requirements
at Fenton High School

Forty-five (45) credits are necessary for graduation. One unit of credit is given for the successful completion of a semester’s work. PLEASE NOTE: If a student repeats a course for which he/she has already received credit, no additional credit will be issued. In addition to the credit requirement, the following classes must be successfully completed in order to graduate:

Classroom Driver’s Education: Will be taught as a part of sophomore Physical Education.

Consumer Education: One (1) semester or passage of the consumer education proficiency exam.

English: Seven (7) semesters.

Fine and Applied Arts: Two (2) semesters, to be chosen from applied technology, art, business education, foreign language, family and consumer sciences, music, or theater.

Health: One (1) semester.

Information Processing: One (1) semester.

Mathematics: Six (6) semesters.

Physical Education: One (1) semester freshman year and two (2) semesters sophomore through senior year.

Science: Four (4) semesters.

Social Studies: Six (6) semesters.

Community Service: Students must complete twenty-five (25) hours of community service as a part of their graduation requirement.

Please note: While these requirements are sufficient for a student to graduate from Fenton, they may not meet college entrance requirements. Students who intend to attend college should check the admission requirements of the colleges or universities in which they are interested.
